Learn to sew this March with our fun three week course. Housed in a former Victorian clothing factory our gorgeous workshop is part of an artists studios bursting with inspiration and creativity.

Guaranteed small class size of no more than six students so you get all the help you need and plenty of attention. Hand sanitiser provided along with individual workstation, sewing machine and sterilised sewing kit for use in class.

This course is for beginners as these classes are geared towards teaching you all the basics. You will learn at your own pace, as the class is taught by individual attention.

We provide the sewing machines and supply you with thread, fabric and a zip for your your first beginners project, a zippered box pouch (see images above for a sneak peek at what you will make!)

Description

You will learn basic machine functions, practice threading the machine and make a small stitch sampler. You will be shown how to insert a zip and make a small bag.

We have a beautiful, bright, studio for you to learn in. There is a lovely sense of community in class, because the group size is small, you get lots of attention in a friendly, relaxed environment. All of our machines are new and easy to learn on.

This is a two hour class, every Wednesday evening 6pm-8pm, once a week for three weeks consecutively. Booking is essential.

Please check your dates carefully, as missed sessions, for ANY reason, cannot be made up, transferred, carried over, refunded or credited. If you are struggling to commit to all dates consecutively, consider waiting until the next course start date, places free up every three to six weeks and are available live online as soon as they become available. If you would like first refusal of a date, email us and we will pop you on our waitlist. Classes, once booked are non transferable and non refundable.

Who is this course for?

This class will suit beginners looking for an introduction to working on the machine, or those who have a basic sewing knowledge and would like a simple refresher. Participants will learn the basics required or build on existing skills. Please note you will be working on a sewing machine in a bent position which might be a strain on your neck and back. We accept no liability for any injury caused . To reach the classroom you will have to use stairs and there is no lift in the building.  There is a small cat resident in the studio building. For those with cat allergies let us know if you would prefer her not to be present in our sewing room, however the cat cannot be removed from the building, please note this and the points mentioned above before booking. Please contact us prior to booking in if you are unsure of your sewing ability or if this course is suitable for where you are at on your sewing journey.

Should I wear a mask?

As per HSE and the government’s regulations of 28th February 2022, mandatory mask wearing is no longer in place. Hand sanitisers are supplied for your use before, during, and after your class. We are required to keep the window and studio door open for ventilation purposes, please ensure you are warmly dressed.

Is my booking transferrable?

We don’t offer the option to transfer dates. Your booking must be used for the dates specified, but you can transfer it into someone else’s name if you can’t make it – just let us know before they attend.

What is the cancellation policy?

We ask that you stay at home and do not attend our workshops if you are feeling symptomatic or have been advised by your GP to self-isolate.

Courses, once booked are non transferable and non refundable.

If you are unable to attend your course you can give your place to your friend or family member. Please email us as soon as you can before the course with the name and contact details of the person attending in your place.

If we are advised by the Government to postpone the workshops we will resume them as soon as it is possible. All workshops will take place when we are allowed to run them again, and no refunds will be given. We will contact all participants as soon as we can with information on how to re-book their dates.
